Winter and the Holiday Season tend to be months where we don’t just overeat (especially bad foods), but most of us also decrease our physical activity.
There are two main factors responsible for this:
Change in schedule due to increased social / family events.
Colder weather makes us less likely to want to go out and exercise.
Decrease physical activity leads to decrease muscle mass, increased fat mass, and decreased immunity.
During these uncharted and unpredictable COVID times, this is even more challenging as the very places we depended to keeps us healthy are closed. It’s important to find ways to continue to move and prioritize your health. The gyms may be closed, but the great outdoors are still open and most gyms and fitness studios are posting free online classes to help you keep moving and fit at home.
