Meniscus Tears and Chiropractic

Not all knee injuries are alike.  Common knee injuries are ligament tears to the anterior or posterior cruciate ligaments, or the medial or lateral collateral ligaments.  In addition, the meniscus is often injured.

The most common way people injure their knees is during sports that demand cutting, jumping and stopping abruptly.  But unfortunately there is no sport that doesn't have an impact on the knee joint, well maybe except chess!

Treatment for knee injuries depend on the degree of the injury, and often on the needs of the patient (ie, pro athetes will likely opt for quick surgical fixes than slow, non-surgical conservative care).

To everyone's surprise, even full tears and meniscus injuries can respond well non-surgically, so if you have a knee injury and have not tried conservative care, you might want to give it a shot.

The good news for you, if you need surgery is that today's surgeons are getting fantastic results. But before you consider a surgical intervention try some chiropractic, or physical therapy.  Another thing to consider are alternative procedures such as Platelet Rich Plasma or Prolotherapy which have shown some positive results and are being used by most pro athletes today.
